Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome

If you’re experiencing groin pain, it’s likely you’ve been misdiagnosed. The majority of men diagnosed with Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome, or CP/CPPS, were previously misdiagnosed with ED, bladder issues, or something else. However, men treated by a specialist feel dramatically better, many becoming completely pain-free.

Maze’s Unique Approach to Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome

At Maze, we understand that most men with pelvic or groin pain have been misdiagnosed, dismissed, or told to live with their symptoms. We approach Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS) differently. Rather than assuming infection or prostatitis, we recognize CP/CPPS for what it truly is: pelvic muscle tension — essentially a “tension headache” in the pelvis — affecting urinary, sexual, and pelvic organ function.

img maze s unique approach to chronic pelvic pain syndrome 2x

This perspective changes everything.

Instead of endless antibiotics, invasive studies, or fragmented care, Maze delivers:

  • Precise diagnosis that rules out other causes without unnecessary procedures
  • Coordinated treatment that addresses the pelvic muscles, urinary symptoms, and sexual function simultaneously
  • Holistic management that recognizes stress, lifestyle factors, and muscle tone as core drivers of symptoms

Our integrated treatment model combines:

  • Pelvic floor physical therapy
  • Targeted medications such as tadalafil and alpha-blockers
  • Anti-inflammatory strategies
  • Tailored treatment for issues like painful ejaculation, premature ejaculation, or erectile dysfunction

Because we treat the root mechanism — not just its symptoms — our patients typically improve dramatically, with many becoming completely pain-free even after years of unsuccessful treatment elsewhere.

We understand CP/CPPS deeply, treat it comprehensively, and stay with you until you feel better

Symptoms & Diagnosis

Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome isn’t caused by infection — it is best understood as persistent pelvic muscle tension, like a “tension headache” in the pelvis. This tension affects the organs it supports, leading to pain, urinary issues, and sexual symptoms.

Common Symptoms Include:

  • Pelvic or groin pain (in the perineum, testicles, penis, or bladder region)
  • Urinary problems such as urgency, frequency, nighttime urination, and burning
  • Sexual symptoms including painful ejaculation, premature ejaculation, or erectile dysfunction

Symptoms often flare with stress, sexual activity, or lifestyle changes, vary in severity, and can significantly affect quality of life.

How CP/CPPS Is Diagnosed

CP/CPPS is a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning other causes must be ruled out. Evaluation typically includes:

  • A medical and sexual history
  • Physical and pelvic examination
  • Urinalysis and targeted testing
  • Non-invasive bladder function tests
  • Erectile function assessment when indicated

At Maze, we avoid unnecessary invasive testing and focus on identifying tension-driven causes so treatment can be targeted and effective.

Treatment

img chronic pelvic pain treatment 2x

Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome is highly treatable, especially with a coordinated approach. At Maze, treatment focuses on addressing the root cause: chronic pelvic muscle tension. Our most effective therapy is pelvic floor physical therapy, which retrains tight, overactive muscles and often delivers relief in just 6–8 sessions. To enhance results, we combine targeted medications such as daily tadalafil, alpha-blockers, and anti-inflammatories with low-intensity shockwave therapy to improve blood flow, reduce pain, and support healing.

Because many men also experience erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation, we treat sexual symptoms at the same time rather than waiting for them to resolve. When these therapies are layered together, men typically see significant improvement — and many become completely pain-free, even after years of frustration. This comprehensive strategy is why Maze succeeds where standard prostatitis treatments fail.

Patient Stories

Suffered from low libido for over four years. Dr Werner works miracles!!!

By the time I found Dr. Werner I had been having symptoms for over four years. I had no energy, was tired all the time, no sex drive and could not get an erection. On top of that, I was overweight and could not take the weight off. I had never even talked to another doctor about my problems because I just figured that this was just how my life was going to continue.

One day, I was reading the newspaper and I came across and ad for the Andropause Center — it described all of my symptoms! I called the number, and made an appointment to come in. I was excited to call, since I thought that maybe I could finally feel better.

The first appointment was, at first, a little embarrassing for me. I was asked a lot of questions, and was given a very full physical, but once I saw that they were so careful and thorough, I got over my embarrassment really quickly. Once Dr. Werner and his team had all of my tests back, they started me on a medication immediately. Dr. Werner quickly switched me to another medication when he saw my results were not as good as they could be, and now I am on the perfect medication! Not only did they find out what was wrong with me, but they continued to work with me until I was really feeling great. It’s been eight months now, and I have all of my energy, a great sex life, and I have lost 20 pounds!!!

My advice to anyone out there that is having problems is to ask questions immediately — you don’t have to live that way. Get help. And come see Dr. Werner — he works miracles!!!!*

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my pain treatable?

Yes — most men improve dramatically with proper, coordinated care.

Is this caused by infection?

Rarely. Symptoms persist due to pelvic muscle tension, not prostate infection.

Why did antibiotics help temporarily?

Because they have anti-inflammatory properties — not because bacteria were present.

Does pelvic floor therapy really help?

Yes — it is one of the most effective treatments for CP/CPPS.

What about sexual symptoms — will they improve?

Yes. Premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction are treated concurrently and successfully.

Does shockwave therapy hurt?

No — most patients feel pressure but no pain.

Is shockwave treatment safe and effective?

Yes — studies show significant improvement in pain, urination, and quality of life, with no negative side effects.
