Exercise May Be Linked to Sperm Quality

Most people know that diet and exercise are important for our health, and every month more studies are published showing how our lifestyle choices significantly impact our body systems. A new study published in Human Reproduction found that men who engaged in the most physical activity had the highest sperm motility, which is defined as the ability of the sperm to move efficiently. Sperm motility is important for conception, since the sperm needs to move properly to fertilize the egg.

While eating a balanced diet and exercising cannot guarantee sperm quality, many studies show that sedentary behavior, body obesity, smoking, alcohol, and STDs decrease sperm quantity and quality.  Exercise may positively affect sperm because it can aid in weight loss and boost testosterone.

It’s time to take your health into your own hands. Stop being a couch potato and go for a walk, join a gym, or use a Youtube exercise video. Your health is in your control.
