Penile Injections for ED

When people think of treatment options for erectile dysfunction, the first thing that comes to mind is typically oral medications, such as Viagra or Cialis. Many aren’t even aware of injections as a treatment option. The truth is, we very commonly use injections as a primary treatment option for our patients. We have had patients as young as 18 and as old as 80 who use injections regularly. There are many benefits to using injections as a treatment option, which we will review below.

Rehabilitation – At the correct dose, men using injections will achieve an erection they would describe as being a 10/10 in terms of how rigid it is. This blood flow can have a rehabilitative effect on the penis, when injections are performed regularly.

Quick Erections – After administering an injection, a rigid erection occurs in about 5-10 minutes. This is much faster than the oral medications, which range from 30 minutes to 2 hours before they are at peak levels in the blood.

Easy to Maintain Erections – One of the greatest benefits of using injections, is that the erection will generally stay rigid no matter the circumstance. For men with significant anxiety surrounding intercourse, this works perfectly, as the erection remains rigid, even if they are anxious.

No Side Effects – It’s very common for people to experience side effects from the oral medications. This is because there are receptors for the medications all over the body. Injections act locally, meaning they will only be active in the penis, which is where they are administered. One of the injection medications, prostaglandin E-1, can cause aching as a side effect. Fortunately, there are other injection medications which do not cause aching.

If you don’t experience quality erections with the oral medications, or if you experience side effects from oral medications, injections may be the right treatment for you. For more information on how injections are performed, please refer to the instructional video
